AT&T Switches to from Dish to DirecTV

“There were growing signs in recent months that AT&T might choose DirecTV over Dish. In July, AT&T said it would terminate its contract with Dish but would continue to evaluate the prospects of a new partnership. In June, Dish disclosed that AT&T had requested that the satellite-TV company buy back $500 million in convertible debt held by the telecoms concern, which raised questions about the future of their alliance.

Dish shares, which ended at $24.55 on the Nasdaq Stock Market Friday in 4 p.m. trading, was down 5.9% in after-hours trading. DirecTV shares were up 2.3% to $27.15 in after-hours trading.”
